Just over a week ago I was lucky enough to attend the 2018 Neuroleadership Summit.
Lucky, because it was an awesome conference, and doubly lucky as it happened to be in one of my favourite cities in the world, New York.
Last week, I had the pleasure of speaking at the National Comcare Conference in Melbourne, talking all things safety leadership & creating a culture of safety - what a hoot.
Seriously, it was a really great conference. What always disappoints me is whilst the majority of organisations have all the right rhetoric regarding safety, statistics continue to show us that it often does not play out in great outcomes. But why?

Let’s be honest, compared to other much sexier roles within organisations such as ‘data scientists’, ‘creative directors’, ‘digital disruptors’, we’re kinda at the lower end of the ‘who you wanna hang out with at the office party’ pecking order.
“What she really needs is some good old-fashioned, tough love!” This common phrase is banded around our workplaces time and time again. What does ‘tough love’ really mean & who is it tough for?
The implication of course, is that the person needs to hear some straight-shooting, constructive feedback, which might be hard for them to hear, but they will be all the better for it.
